Our Story

Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) was established in Fall 2004 by a group of five women, consisting of both undergraduate and graduate students. The initial objective of WECE was to create a community within the ECE department at Georgia Tech where women could seek friendship, support, and advice regarding their academic, professional, and personal life.

Academic Support

We want every girl who decides to major in ECE to graduate ECE. That is why we provide you with all the resources and advice that we have to help you ace particularly tricky engineering classes. We also hold a very comprehensive Survival Workshop at the beginning of every semester. Not sure what class or professor to take next semester? Come to a WECE meeting and someone will point you in the right direction.

Professional Development

Congratulations for choosing Tech for ECE, because the job market could not be better. Still, the job search process can be daunting. WECE is here to help you every step of the way. From interview workshops to resume writing, we try to equip every woman in ECE with what she needs to get the job she wants. Whether it be her first internship of co-op, or if she is going for her first full-time position, we want to help. Attend any of our corporate sponsored events to get to know some of the best companies, as they get to know you. Do not miss out on getting the experiences interning and co-oping can bring they are invaluable.

Social Events

We take great pride in our social calendar which gives members the opportunity to get to know one another. Our events are always fun and you will be surprised how much you will value having a friend in ECE. Check out our calendar to see what is coming soon!

Community Outreach

Do you remember the day you decided you wanted to be an engineer? We do too. Want to share that with other young women? It is no secret that there is a serious lack of women in engineering, especially in ECE. That is why WECE develops programs to try to capture the imagination of girls through activities that make engineering real and interesting. We reach out to all ages from elementary Girls Scout troops to local high school physics classes.
